In August 2006, Oxiana's Board of Directors formally approved development of the Prominent Hill copper-gold mine.
Approximately 800 people will be required during construction and a steady operation of about 400 people will be required once production commences in 2008.
Most mining and construction positions for the Prominent Hill project will be offered through contracting firms engaged by Oxiana. Location
Prominent Hill is located 650 kilometres north west of Adelaide, 130 kilometres north west of BHP Billiton’s Olympic Dam and 130 kilometres south east of the town of Coober Pedy in the Gawler Craton of South Australia.
Prominent Hill is accessible by road and by air.
Roster: Fly- in/Fly-out of
Drive-in/Drive-out of Coober Pedy, 14 days on / 7 days off.
Hours of work: 12 hour shifts
Accommodation and mess facilities
On site facilities will include a 400 person village (single rooms with ensuites), shared laundry facilities, dining room and tavern.
The site will also include a gymnasium, swimming pool and courts for tennis and cricket.
